NEW VIS is a polymeric viscosifying agent
for freshwater, seawaterand sodium
chloride and potassium chloride brines.
Application
Additions of NEW VIS yield shear thinning
fluids. Viscosity is low at bit shear rates to optimize penetration, and is
high at low annular shear rates to provide maximum hole aging.
Recommended treatment
NEW VISshould be mixed thought the mud hopper at 25 to 30 minutes per sack to
prevent “ balling” and “ fish eyes”. A bactericide is needed to prevent
biodegradation in freshwater and seawater fluids. Concentration of 1,43 to 2,85
kg/m3 (0,5 to 1,0 lb/bbl) are normally added to provide adequate viscosity.
