Sodium Chloride

DISCRIPTION

Sodium Chloride, NaCl 95% min. Molecular weight 58.45, Cl 60.66%, Na 39.34%.

APPLICATION

Sodium Chloride is used for:

- Saturated salt muds (for drilling salt zones)

- Work-over fluids

- In completion fluids it is used for formilate brines with densifies up to 1.2 specific gravity. In combination with calcium chloride, brines up to 1.36 can be formulated.

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT

Sodium Chloride is added to a fluid as required. It could dissolve repidly in water. To saturate fresh water, add 316 kg/m3 (110.5 lb/bbl).

In a mixed salt system, the solubility is depressed by the presence of other salts’ characteristics. Add sodium slight exess, usually 20 – 57 kg/m3 (7 – 20 lb/bbl).
